Alencia

Alencia was my very first portrait I had ever done in colour, in any medium! I had never once attempted a portrait in paint, let alone mixing and blending skin tones. This portrait led to my entire series of portraits that came after, and truly is the starting point for my portraiture journey!

I didn’t stick to coloured portraits for very long. I had been doing realism animals for the 7 years prior, most often in pencil crayon. I think I had gotten so used to the premixed shades and easy control of the graphite that when I moved to paint, I realized I simply didn’t have the skill yet to punch these out as quickly as I needed to. After painting a few of these portraits, I quickly moved to monochrome portraits (the one and only monochrome portrait between this style and my current one was Bliss), and that led me to discover my current style!
