I chose coloured pencil for this piece due to their bright pigments and lightfastness. I also knew that I hadn’t been painting portraits with enough detail yet to capture this image the way I really wanted to. It was one of my favourite processes yet, and I now constantly search for bright coloured lights wherever I go, just in case I find something similar to try!
