It’s extremely rare to see any colour anywhere but the background of my pieces, but for this one, I decided to give it a little switch up. This portrait took me much longer than most, simply as I had to mix such specific shades of purple, but still have them work together when put onto the canvas. If you look closely, you’ll also see that there are many more shades of grey in this piece than most. To achieve the depth I needed, while still making it clear that the hat was in front of the subject and not just a missing section, required me to use more lighting shades than usual!
